Nambucca Riverwatch is a group of volunteer Citizen Scientists. The team’s mission is to see environmentally healthy rivers, tributaries and estuaries within the Nambucca catchment area, with restoration to clean and healthy water quality ensuring healthy fish and oyster stocks.
Healthy rivers, tributaries and wetlands are essential for native wildlife, local communities, and a diverse range of activities including fishing, recreation, farming and more.
We collect and test water samples on a monthly basis throughout the catchment area. The resulting data is downloaded to the ALA Waterwatch NSW Data portal.
A substantial database of fact-based information is required to pinpoint areas of concern and to effectively lobby government bodies, NGOs, and other ventures to initiate change or improve practice in areas that affect the health of our river systems.
